Floor sanding and staining Harrogate

Victorian Bedroom Floor Sanding & Staining in Harrogate – A Dark Oak Revival

We recently completed a floor sanding project in Harrogate, restoring the original pine floorboards in a charming Victorian home. This bedroom had beautiful potential hidden under worn carpet and decades of use — and our job was to bring it back to life with a classic finish that suited the age and character of the property.

After lifting the old floor covering, we carefully inspected and repaired the existing pine boards, replacing any damaged sections and securing loose areas. Then we began the floor sanding process, using dustless equipment to level the surface and remove old finishes without disrupting the rest of the home. The transformation at this stage was already dramatic.

To highlight the character of the grain and enhance the period feel of the room, we applied a dark oak stain. This rich tone brings out the natural variation in the pine while adding warmth and a more refined look. Once the colour was just right, we sealed the boards with multiple coats of high-quality lacquer, giving the floor long-lasting protection and a subtle sheen.

The end result is a floor that complements the Victorian features of the home – from the tall skirting boards to the original fireplace – while offering the durability and clean finish needed for everyday living.
