Floor sanding and restoration

This solid oak floor was laid over 20 year ago and was definitely ready for a new lease of life. We set about sanding the floor back to bare oak ready for the next 20 years. With our equipment, your floors are sanded with full extraction for a dust free job.

Once the main of the existing Lacquer is removed with our belt sander at 40 grit, the rest of the floor is finished with a larger orbital sander, this makes for a better finish on oak and is not as aggressive on the timber. The oak is sanded through to 100 grit for a smooth finish, but enough texture to allow the hard wax to absorb into the oak and cure for hard finish.

This floor was finished with two coats of Satin clear hard wax by Osmo oil with and overnight drying time in-between. From when the floor is first sanded, it takes about 3 days for you to be back on the floor again with the sanding and doing time of the hard wax. As with all our floor sanding projects a clean finish and efficient job is always a priority and this solid oak floor came up a winner!
