Reclaimed Pine Mill floor sanding
Pine Floor boards reclaimed from a Mill, sanded and sealed in Gargrave North Yorkshire
This recent floor sanding project in Gargrave, North Yorkshire, turned out to be quite a transformation. Unfortunately, the floor had previously been sanded by someone without the proper experience, leaving behind disappointing results. Getting the boards flat is essential in floor sanding, and using a hand belt sander simply doesn’t cut it for achieving that smooth, level finish.
As the floor was solid pine, we had plenty of depth to work with, which allowed us to restore it to its former glory. Starting with a coarse 24-grit sandpaper, we worked through the grits all the way up to a fine 100-grit, carefully removing all the gouges and imperfections to achieve a smooth, even surface.
To finish, we applied a durable 3-coat lacquer system in a semi-matt finish. This provides excellent wear resistance, and importantly, it reacts better with the soft pine than hard wax oils, which can sometimes cause undesirable effects on such softwood floors.
We’re extremely happy with the results, and it was fantastic to see the kitchen and dining room come to life with a fresh, revitalized feel.
