1900 pine floor sanding Harrogate

1900 pine floor sanded and finished in hardwax oil in Harrogate North Yorkshire

This beautiful 1900s-built house in Harrogate was ready for its original living room floor to be restored, and we were excited to help bring it back to life. The floor had previously been sanded and stained with a dark colour that didn’t do the natural beauty of the wood justice. With our customer just moving in, it was the perfect time for a fresh start and a new lease of life for the floor.

To begin the restoration, we used our main belt sander with 40-grit sandpaper to remove the old stain and oil. This exposed the original colour of the floorboards, which instantly brightened up the room, giving it a lighter, fresher feel. Once we had removed the bulk of the old finish, we moved through the grits up to 100, ensuring the surface was smooth but still textured enough to allow the finish to absorb properly.

For the final touch, we applied Osmo Clear Satin Hard Wax Oil, which offers both natural aesthetics and long-lasting protection. The satin finish enhanced the wood’s natural grain while providing a durable, easy-to-maintain surface.

Restoring original features in Harrogate homes is something we’re passionate about, and it’s always rewarding to see how much of a difference a well-executed floor sanding job can make. If you have a floor in need of some attention, or if you’re interested in learning more about our floor sanding services, head over to our contact page or check out our floor sanding page for more details.

We’d love to help bring your floor back to life!
