Bespoke Book case in Oak

Bespoke Bookcase and Lighting Grassington North Yorkshire

We were thrilled to work on this bespoke joinery project in Grassington, North Yorkshire, where we created a stunning display cabinet for our customer, Mat. The project was designed to showcase a large Star Wars Lego collection and books—talk about an exciting brief!

Spanning over 4 meters along the wall, this bookshelf is truly a standout feature. The central section consists of static shelves, while the outer cabinets offer adjustable shelving, all made with solid oak. The entire unit is framed with a solid oak face frame, complemented by hand-painted cabinets and tongue-and-groove backs for added texture and strength. To finish off the design, we used solid oak skirting boards and a custom cornice to bring out the detail and craftsmanship.

A highlight of this project was the custom lighting rig, designed and installed by Oldfield Electrical in Skipton. This allows the bookshelf to double as an ambient light source for the room, all controlled remotely for convenience. It’s fantastic to see it installed and lighting up the room—this is definitely a joinery project we’ll always remember.
