Handmade Ash & Purpleheart Table – Crafted with Precision in the Yorkshire Dales

At TF Building and Renovations, we’re known for our attention to detail and passion for traditional joinery – and this handmade solid Ash and Purpleheart table is a perfect example of that ethos brought to life.

Built in our Yorkshire workshop, this bespoke piece blends classic joinery techniques with striking, modern materials. The main body of the table is crafted from beautiful, light-toned solid Ash, known for its strength and subtle grain patterns. In contrast, we’ve introduced bold Purpleheart wood as an accent – a rare hardwood with rich, deep purple tones that darken and intensify over time, creating a one-of-a-kind finish.

The table features A-frame legs, giving it a grounded, architectural presence and superb stability. All joints are made using traditional mortice and tenon joinery, ensuring long-lasting durability without compromising on aesthetics. We added large chamfered edges around the tabletop to soften the form and highlight the natural grain and colour transitions between the Ash and Purpleheart.

To finish, we used Osmo Polyx hardwax oil – a premium product that enhances the natural beauty of the wood while offering excellent protection against spills, stains, and daily use. The result is a tactile, resilient surface that will age gracefully for generations.

Whether it’s a statement dining table or a custom-built piece of furniture, we bring the same level of skill and care to every job. We specialise in bespoke joinery and renovations in and around Skipton, serving homes throughout the Yorkshire Dales with quality, hand-finished work.
