Handmade Shaker kitchen in

Duck Green by Farrow and Ball

This has been a cracking project to work on for us as far, as handmade kitchens go and finished projects looks stunning. From word go this has been a bit of a challenge due to the age of the property, but we love a challenge. Therefore this kitchen is made to measure in every aspect. The old kitchen was removed, the room was then plastered out and decorated for a fresh start. We undertook all the renovation work as well as the bespoke kitchen build.

Our customer wanted a simple shaker door, that we traditionally make from Tulip wood and birch plywood centres. All the decorative panels in the kitchen are 22mm hardwood with a simple chamfered groove. Although the dimensions of the kitchen are not too big, we still managed to fit in 17 birch plywood cabinets and an island in. All our runners and hinges are high quality soft close mechanisms, to give an extra smooth feel on all our drawers and shaker doors. By far the main focus point in the room is the Aga, the whole left hand side of the kitchen was built to frame it. In the initial drawings we preposed book case towers and lighting spanning the gap. In the end after experimenting the book cases were built, with a wayney edge oak plank. We left the mill lines in for a rustic look and matched it above the sink area. Just adding the oak to the kitchen really adds to the theme and gives it a homely cottage feel.

All the wood work is hand painted in the new autumn collection colour Duck green by Farrow and ball. By now if you have looked through my website you will know we are big fans of this paint, this colour really works with the whole feel of this bespoke kitchen. Everything is hand painted traditionally with the brush marks adding to the character. Our customer set there heart on black granite worktops and the results look amazing, making for unique a colour scheme with granite and oak to compliment.

We love the feel of this kitchen, it really keeps the traditional Yorkshire dales cottage kitchen vibe, but with a modern and functional twist.
