What a lush colour! I absolutely love diving into projects with bold, funky colours, and this one was no exception. After meeting with our wonderful customer, Jayne—who has trusted us with numerous projects over the years—we were excited to bring her vision to life. Following our initial measure-up, we created a 3D CAD drawing of the space, and once the design was agreed upon, we got straight to work.
For this particular joinery project, storage was key, and we made sure to maximise the space as efficiently as possible. As with most of our builds, Birch cabinetry formed the heart of the design, with all the main cabinets and drawers constructed from 18mm Birch plywood. The shelves are fully adjustable to accommodate various sizes of storage, and the drawers are robust, designed to hold up to 25kg of weight. We also incorporated a hanging compartment for long garments, adding extra functionality. The shaker doors were crafted with traditional 4-piece and 5-piece assemblies using Tulip wood, with Birch ply inset panels for a clean, timeless finish. To complement the space, we added a shaped oak desk to allow for the swing of the door, along with floating oak shelves for a modern touch.
Jayne’s commitment to the colour was fantastic—she chose Pelt by Farrow & Ball, a rich, deep purple that really draws you in. The whole decorative part of the project was hand-painted in this stunning hue, which will later be complemented by a lighter shade of purple on the room’s walls. For the finishing touches, we selected black bar handles by M. Marcus Heritage, which perfectly complement the darker tones of the room.
The entire joinery project is fitted with soft-close runners and hinges, ensuring that all the drawers and doors close gently with just a light push.
It was an absolute pleasure to work on this project—Jayne’s vision really brought the space to life. I’m thrilled with how it turned out and can’t wait to see the room fully decorated.
